Is your GOAL to work as a Deaf Interpreter?
Are you fluent in ASL and English?
Have you taken a Deaf Interpreter basic 40-hour training?
Are you searching for more opportunities to grow as a professional Deaf Interpreter?
Are you motivated to start a professional interpreting career?
Are you looking for hands-on, experience with team interpreting, language analysis, and ethical decision making?
If yes, please watch the video below to learn about our Deaf Interpreter Academy "Gear Up" Program!

Program and application process explained in ASL

In order to apply, you will need to submit three separate videos:
  1. Introduction Video (3 minutes or less)
  2. Text to ASL interpretation – read the text and translate into ASL
  3. Consecutive interpretation – watch what is signed, interpret using ASL; making your ASL easily understood.  You will sign both after the Deaf consumer and your hearing team.
Upon completion of videos, please upload to YouTube, then copy and paste your public link in the appropriate section of application.

We understand that some of you may have limited experience with interpreting and this may be reflected in your ability to do the Text to ASL and Consecutive interpretation videos.  We want to see your natural ability – just do your best to be as clear as possible.  Thank you for applying to the Gear Up program!
