Deaf-Hearing Interpreter Teaming: Feeding Fundamentals
Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 3:00 pm - 8:00 MST (2:00 pm PST, 3:00 pm MST, 4:00 CST, 5:00 pm EST)
"How do you want me to feed you the message?" is a key question each Deaf-hearing interpreting team member must address before going into an assignment. Deaf and hearing interpreters combine their abilities, knowledge, and skills to co-construct the interpreted message through shared message processing. The building of "Swift Trust" is required for teamwork to happen. This workshop focuses on steps to understanding and meeting the needs of each team member to ensure that the shared processing of the message conveys accurate interpretations. Through guided practice, participants will work through key strategies involved in working in tandem. Participants will team interpret in a mock interpreting scenario where the learned principles can be applied.
