Justifying Use of a Deaf Interpreter: Red Flag Indicators
Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm MST (9:00 pm PST, 10:00 pm MST, 11:00 CST, 12:00 pm EST)
Deaf interpreters are often asked on the job to justify their interpreting roles. Having the ability to quickly cite red flag indicators connected to the setting, consumer, and stakes enable DIs to show just cause for a DI-HI team. We will discuss the use of setting-specific terminology to clearly indicate the need for a DI, thus enabling the interpreting team to support best practice standards for consumer access. Strategizing and role-playing scenarios will take place in this interactive workshop.
